Greta Is Committed to Helping Out Horses

Greta Butler was nominated as a Kind Kid Award winner by a family friend because of the volunteer work that she does with rescue horses at Empowered Equines in York, Maine, a horse rescue dedicated to spreading education about positive reinforcement and force-free animal care. Fourteen-year-old Greta became interested in taking care of the horses three years ago when her parents bought property next door to the farm. Greta volunteers at Empowered Equines every day after school for 2-3 hours to care for the horses, barns, and surrounding grounds. Rain or shine, Greta has not missed a day in three years. Her dedication to the care of the animals and continued learning of rescue animals is a true inspiration for all. But more importantly it is the way she lights up when she talks about the horses and the relationships she has built.

Greta’s selflessness and positive impact on her community is why she was selected as a 2023 Nice Catch Kind Kid.
