Remote learning has been challenging for everyone but imagine having to teach remotely to students with hearing impairment where visuals are so important. Candice McLaughlin, a Teacher of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired at New Searles Elementary School didn’t let this new way of teaching hinder her. Ms. Candice recorded messages daily, signing and speaking slowly and clearly, and even took into consideration small details to help her students, like always wearing black so her hands would show more clearly to ensure her students could all follow along.

Ms. Candice also makes sure all her students succeed. When she notices a student is struggling, she is always willing to make changes or take her own personal time to address the concerns and make sure no student is lost in their learning.

Because of for the time and dedication, she provides to her students every day, especially during these unforeseen times, Ms. Candice was chosen as one of our 2020 Teachers Who Wow.
