Karen Advocates for Her Students

Ms. Karen Van Dyke, a History Teacher at Oyster River High School is an advocate for her students inside and outside of her classroom. Her teaching methods don’t just include teaching knowledge of the past but encouraging students to critically think about its effect and how to learn from it for the future. She serves on several committees, including the high school yearbook and is a supporting school leader for all who feel unaccepted or misunderstood.

She has been known to provide a warm jacket, socks, and shoes in the middle of winter to students who have none. Working tirelessly for the school and her students, she can only be described as a ‘Teacher Who Wows’. Thank you, Ms. Van Dyke, for all that you do.
